There are some workplaces that are extremely sympathetic to the needs of working moms.

Sometimes mothers are able to leave work a little early to get their children, have more flexible hours or even work from home.

Mary Madigan believes that these privileges should be extended to pet moms as well.

In a statement, she states that she was envious of working moms that were able to have extra time to spend with their children and she wanted to be afforded the same opportunities.

Madigan states adopting her pet chihuahua, Frank added an “entire extra workload” to her life that she didn’t expect. She didn’t take into account many of the difficulties that come along with owning a dog.

Madigan is an advocate for pet owners to get more respect in the workplace and clams that she is jealous of working mothers because of their flexible scheudles.

What would it look like for pet parents to have special priviledges to take care of their pets? Maybe having extended lunch breaks to walk their dogs at home since hiring a walker can get to be pretty pricey. Maybe vouches for doggy day care or work from home options for half of the day.

What do you think? Should pet parents have many of the same priviledges as parents of human children in the work place? Or should it even start there, should you be able to claim your pets on your taxes??
